OOH LA LA

All I can say is...WOW!  I CAN'T BELIEVE I FINALLY OWN A NIKON!  Or maybe I shouldn't say anything till I figure out how to use it. Yes I will need to learn a lot and there are classes that Nikon offers.  I'm so excited about this new camera and just can't wait to start taking photos.  I practiced with it in the store and it's sleek, fast and fits perfectly in my hand!  Also let it be known that I WOULD TURN DOWN JEWELRY (not saying what kind LOL), fancy shoes, a cashmere scarf and, well maybe, a hot stone massage for this new baby of mine! I'm sitting back waiting for that battery to charge!
In the meantime my new camera is sitting far above the living room, and I look over at it and smile, thinking of all the wonderful memories I will create by taking photos of my gorgeous baby Kira. Oh, wait a minute, she dislikes my littel Canon point and shoot, who knows what she'll do with this great big lens in her way. Then again the power of zoom and new stabilized lenses...ah can't wait to start clicking away.

I can't wait! Your current camera takes great pictures, so this new one must be fabulous! I have to admit I use a point and click camera too, by the way. It took over a year for someone to point out that I could actually take video with it, I am clueless!

So happy for you!! I bought a Nikon D40 this past summer and it's GREAT! All I know how to do is use it in Auto mode and am already very happy with the pics. Need to learn more. Asked for the Nikon D40 for Dummies book for Christmas. :o)

Looking forward to seeing the magic your camera captures!

Thanks everyone for the words of advice. I must admit I'm having a hard time even reading the owners manual. Oh so many buttons and descriptions of buttons and functions and so on! But I love the way it performs so far. Very cool camera indeed. Right now it's a bit intimidating, but so was my little camera. I usually just play around with it then read the instructions! But this camera is way smarter than I think. Oh, I hope I get the hang of it soon. Can't wait to post some really cool photos.

YAY! Ivy! I'm so happy for you! Get that baby charged up and start clickin' away, lady! I can't wait to see what you and that lovely little camera produce....have you visited Sophie's World? I think that's what's it's called...I think she shoots with that camera and her pics are DIVINE.

Congrats, Ivy!

Oh, you ladies are just too funny about this camera post! Many of you are so amazing with your photography skills. I feel like a little lost deer in the woods with this camera. HOWEVER, I do plan to peek, sneak and beg for advice now and then!

Thanks for the comments.

I grudingly use digital for convenience with snapshots, but prefer my Olympus XA and Agfa film for pictures... until I can afford a digital SLR...
